Internships with PYHIT

At PYHIT, internships provide meaningful, real-world experience in social services, housing, and behavioral health programs that change lives. Interns work alongside experienced professionals to support outreach, compliance, and administrative projects across our divisions. Each placement emphasizes mentorship, accountability, and growth, offering a chance to contribute directly to programs helping individuals rebuild their lives. PYHIT welcomes students and emerging professionals eager to make an impact in their communities while developing valuable skills in a mission-driven environment.

Join the Schuyler Kids Internship Program at the Schuyler Inn Family Shelter. Create meaningful experiences for children while gaining real-world skills and potential internship credit.

The Schuyler Kids Internship Program connects college students and community partners with families at the Schuyler Inn Family Shelter. Volunteers lead fun, educational, and cultural activities that brighten daily life for children while supporting their learning and emotional growth.

Home Meal Delivery Volunteer Drivers
Want to help us ensure that individuals have access to healthy and nutritious food? Come join us as a home meal delivery volunteer driver. Each day, volunteer drivers help prepare, package, and distribute meals to Albany County residents. All you need is a U.S. State Issued Drivers License and a friendly smile.

Volunteer Homework Help
The Schuyler Inn serves families and children presently experiencing homelessness. During the COVID-19 Pandemic (March 2020 to March 2021), the Schuyler Inn served 112 children. These children come with a range of needs including, homework help. Thus, we are looking for volunteers to help Schuyler Inn children with their homework. Our students range from 5 to 18 years old and need help in everything from basic math, reading, and writing all the way up to chemistry and biology.

Volunteer Grant Writer
Have experience writing grants? Applying for and obtaining grants from federal, state, and local entities are essential tasks for non-profits such as ours. Thus, we are always in need of assistance with researching, organizing, managing, and creating grant requests to ensure that we are able to provide the necessary resources within our communities.
